From Africa to Asia, South America and beyond, the Tubman Museum takes you on a culinary journey — one that will tantalize your taste buds, as well as showcase the multi-cultural aspect of the museum — at International Taste of Soul 2016.
This annual fundraising event, which celebrates the diversity of the community and raises awareness of international cultures, is a journey that fulfills the museum’s mission in an environment that brings people together through the common bonds of food and dance. Many local businesses and organizations participate in this event that focuses on all types of cuisine from around the world.
This year, museum guests will have an opportunity to sample dishes by Chef Michael Davis, certified culinarian and personal chef, and many local celebrity chefs who will present a wide array of international cuisine and comfort food from various cultures. Cuisine from such countries as Nigeria, Jamaica, Italy, China, Tanzania, Japan, India and Ireland, as well as more familiar items like traditional American soul food, will be featured at the event.
Guests will enjoy cooking demonstrations by Chef Michael and be entertained by live cultural dance performances by KHicks Contemporary Ballroom Dancing, Paula East Studios and Hayiya Dance Theatre.
Cost for the event will be $30 for Museum Members and $35 for non-members; children age 3 to 17 are $15.
