Tubman African American Museum

On Saturday, November 10, 2007, the Macon City Auditorium was transformed into New York’s famous Cotton Club as Macon’s Tubman African American Museum presented its 12th Annual All That Jazz at the Cotton Club fund-raiser. Adding to the spirit and theme of the evening, the actual 7-piece Cotton Club All-Stars Jazz Band with soloist, Ann Sinclair traveled from New York to perform for the listening and dancing pleasure of the guests.

Backdrops Fantastic, one of Macon’s newest downtown businesses, provided the gala fund raiser a 20’ by 40’ backdrop featuring the Cotton Club. The table décor and lighting emulated the All That Jazz at the Cotton Club Theme. Guests enjoyed the catering by Natalia's and an open bar while they were perusing and bidding at the silent auction.

The Silent Auction featured many exciting items this year, including, original art objects, get-away packages and upscale gift baskets. Our biggest and most exciting auction item was an all expense paid trip to Barbados. This item had been graciously donated to the auction by the Barbados Tourism Authority to help the Tubman Museum raise much needed funding to support the educational and community outreach programs. The trip consisted of 5 days / 4 night stay for Two people at the beautiful Crane Resort & two Economy Class airline tickets with Delta Airlines.

All proceeds from the All That Jazz At the Cotton Club gala benefits the many programs and exhibits of the Tubman African American Museum.
