A day trip to the Tubman is a perfect way to spend a little time in downtown Macon. We are just a short distance from Atlanta, and we are centrally located in downtown Macon. A typical visit will take you a little less than two hours – which includes nine galleries (both art & history,) as well as a 30 minute movie called, “Running a Thousand Miles to Freedom.” After your tour, stop by SAFARI, our museum store, where you will find both local hand crafted items, as well as wonderful souvenirs for the kids.

Downtown Macon hosts numerous local restaurants, all within a few blocks of the museum. You will also find numerous boutiques, historical homes, and art galleries all within walking distance of the museum. We are just two blocks from the Interstate exit, and close to both the River Walk and the Downtown Marriott.

If you would like more information, follow us for daily announcements on Facebook and Twitter, or simply call the museum. We look forward to serving you!

Remember – it is ALWAYS a great day at the Tubman!
