From Africa to Asia, South America and beyond, the Tubman Museum takes you on a culinary journey — one that will tantalize your taste buds, as well as showcase the multi-cultural aspect of the museum — at “2017 International Taste of Soul: Around The Rotunda in 80 Dishes.”
We focus on BBQ this year, but in the tradition of previous International Taste of Soul events, we also take a Culinary Journey around the World and even offer many Southern “Soul Food” favorites!
This annual fundraising event, which celebrates the diversity of the community and raises awareness of international cultures, fulfills the museum’s mission in an environment that brings people together through the common bonds of food and dance. Many local businesses and organizations participate in this event that focuses on all types of cuisine from around the world.
Many local celebrity chefs will present a wide array of international cuisine and comfort food from various cultures. (If you’re interested in being a celebrity chef, please contact Harold Young, Special Events Manager, at 478-845-3852 before August 18.)
Cuisine from such countries as Nigeria, Jamaica, Italy, China, Tanzania, Japan, India and Ireland, as well as more familiar items like traditional American soul food, will be featured at the event. Live cultural dance will be performed KHicks Contemporary Ballroom Dancing, Paula East Studios, and Hayiya Dance Theatre.
Admission is $30 for Tubman Museum Members, $35 for non-members, and $15 for children ages 3 to 17.
